What is Vpayments?

“Vpayments" is a new eCommerce payments platform provided by ZimSwitch. Vpayments allows you to pay for your Zimazon goods from your computer.

             

 





             More Zimbabwean banks will make the Vpayments service available in the coming weeks.

In order to start making Vpayments service, you will need to sign up to the service, and link your new VPayments account to your bank account. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Click on the “Register” button and fill out the basic form (make sure you see a padlock in your URL address bar, with an https at the beginning – NOT a simple http… the “s” on the end of “https” and the padlock informs you that you are on a secure connection.
  2. Amongst the information required is your Mobile Number, which is followed by a tick box asking if you would like to use “One Time Passwords” (OTP). It is highly recommended that you do not disable this box. By leaving this box ticked, a text message will be sent to your phone every time an action is performed on your VPayments account. You will simply need to enter each “One Time Password” when prompted. There is no additional charge for the service.
  3. Email/Username – your email address will be your user name. This address will also be used for sending all VPayments related notifications.
  4. Password – will be used in conjunction with your email address each time you log on to make a payment. Your password must be a minimum of 8 characters and contain one numeric character and one non-alpha-numeric character (eg. #, $, % etc.).

At the initial registration screen, you will also get a chance to link your VPayments account to an existing bank card. This is optional at this stage. You can add a new card to link to at any point by clicking the “+ New Account” button on the main page of your accounts.

Adding a new bank card to your VPayments account during registration:
Enter your full name, select which bank your card is issued by and then enter the long card number (normally between 14 and 19 digits) that shows across the front of your bank card. If there is an expiry date on the card enter it, or leave the expiry boxes as 0 if there is not one present.

To verify that you are the owner of the account you entered a random amount of up to $1.00 will be debited from your account. Before you can start shopping with this account you will be required to enter this amount, you can find out the amount from your physical, mobile or online bank statement. Your bank should refund you this amount.

Once you have filled out the relevant information, click the “Save” button.

Once you click the Save button, a verification email will be sent to the email address that you entered. Click on this link, and log onto Vpayments using the username (email address) and password that you specified. To complete the registration process, validate the bank card that you entered by entering the random amount that was debited from your bank account.
